UFW-12 Subwoofer "Hot Rod" KitThis is a featured page

Description: An upgrade kit for the UFW-12 subwoofer. This will involve a 1-for-1 swap of driver, amp and grill. The parts will cosmetically look *very* similar. The driver is modified to give very notable performance enhancements, and the amplifier EQ/filtering and limiting are modified to take full advantage of these improvements. We have to make a slight modification to the grill as even though there are no problems currently, I am now able to push things hard enough to cause the current grill to make noises.

The UFW-12 Mk2, aka Hot-Rod upgrade
MFW-15 in production or shipping my guestimate is 2 months from now UFW-12 Mk2 is #2 on the list behind the MFW-15

As for the question of the MFW-15 vs. UFW-12...
The UFW-12 Mk2, aka Hot-Rod upgrade, is #2 on the list behind the MFW-15 with the BMF breathing down its neck. The UFW-12 is still a very good sounding and powerful subwoofer, and will add more with the hot-rod effort. The driver is quite something to see in a product at this price point, and there are audible benefits to what it does. The very robust 12" woofer in this sealed design and some added flexibility in the more expensive amplifier allow a slightly smoother behavior from the UFW-12 Mk2 than the MFW-15. The maximum output of the two are rather close, where a few factors contribute to the MFW-15 sounding a little more intense in output.
It is hard to describe the differences without people reading more into it than is intended. The MFW-15 is certainly no slouch on music, as those who attended the Chicagoland G2G will recall. The addition of RDES or some subwoofer EQ with an MFW-15(as with any subwoofer) can improve the result that much further. Especially in moderate to smaller rooms, the UFW-12 will be a very refined subwoofer with some advantages of its own. I couldn't see anyone dissappointed with a UFW-12 Mk2 in comparison to the MFW-15. The MFW-15 will of course add a lot of low end impact below 20-25Hz as compared to the current UFW-12, but you can enjoy the sound quality of the UFW-12 now and then Hot-Rod it in the near future.
"upgrade kit price"
The price window I gave before was $150-350 with the understanding that the woofer is a heavy beast, so there will be some shipping cost. MLS always seems to surprise us, so who knows where it will end up. I tend to be conservative/modest in how I value what I design, and I have no hesitation that this upgrade is easily holds strong value at $300.
