x-pls Powered TowerThis is a featured page

Description: this one is just like MTM but adds a built in super sub. x-pls is made for the family that does not want separate sub cabs everywhere

Mark Seaton:
It turned out I found a very fitting solution for the x-pls in the form of an 8" and 10" PR in a design akin to the x-plosive with the 8" behind the 10" PR and the back chamber having a slot port. The result is a nicely efficient system that as some real bottom end while still fitting within the approximate size of the x-mtm. The x-pls powered woofer sections will have useful output into the low 20s. Between the pair (one in each tower), the output will compete with or better many value HT subs currently on the market.

For those who don't have space for a sub and don't want to find stands for the x-cs, these should be a killer set of speakers. While the x-plosive goes just a little lower, they are similar enough in behavior and combined capability that an x-plosive could be added to a pair of x-pls's and effectively double the subwoofer capability. Of course you could just use x-pls's for surrounds as well.

Specs:
  • A powered subwoofer section with an 8" driver inside, pushing a 10" passive radiator in the front, and the rear-wave loading a slotted port in the back. This is similar to the BMF, but rear ported, instead of two rear passive radiators.
  • Two 6.5" woofers
  • One 1" dome tweeter
